Iganyana Tented Camp is situated on a private concession not far from the Hwange National Park’s Main Entrance. The luxury camp is managed, and owned by Terry and Sheona, who have been in the tourism industry 15 years. The camp is only a stones-throw from Hwange International Airport and the African Painted Dog Conservation Centre. Carefully nestled in amongst a beautiful teak forest, great effort has gone into making sure it blends in with the background and does not seem out of place in this beautiful environment. It overlooks an long-dry riverbed, surrounded by an open grass plain, which is the perfect position to maximise the natural game corridors. Iganyana is built from locally sourced materials and custom-made canvas tents, showcasing the natural elegance of classic safari style.

Natural walkways of compacted red river sand lead to the centre of the camp. Here, tall rain trees shade the large Bedouin tented dining and living area. This opens onto a large, raised wooden deck overlooking the waterhole. Below the deck is the Boma with a fire pit: the hearth and heart of the camp. A low, sculptural wall of twisted acacia boughs is all that separates you from the wilderness beyond. There are no perimeter fences around the property.

The accommodation includes: 15 x Luxury Tents that can accommodate 2 people each in either double or twin bed formations. Each tent can accommodate 2 single beds for children.

Each spacious safari tent has electricity, LED back-up lighting and air-conditioning; separate dressing area; an indoor sitting area; tea and coffee making facilities and double doors leading onto a shaded outdoor veranda. En-suite bathrooms feature hot and cold running water, flush toilets, double vanities, and indoor showers with gorgeous fluffy white towels. The bed linen is of a high quality, offering crisp cotton sheets, as well as soft robes and slippers. You will get a special surprise at your evening’s turn-down service when you find Belgian chocolates on your pillow and not just for the first night, but each and every night!

The camp is eco-friendly, with solar-powered hot water. The sturdy steel-framed tents feature a double layer of canvas for additional insulation and cool, polished cement floors topped with natural fibre rugs. The luxurious large tented rooms are elegantly furnished with lovingly restored antiques and locally crafted wooden furniture. On the whole an exclusive experience, with a total of only 30 guests at any time.

There are many game activities to choose from: guided game drives or walking safaris with highly qualified guides (these can be booked for morning and/or afternoon). A must do on anyone’s list is a visit to the Painted Dog Conservation Centre.
